The main criteria for being invited to the Four à Pain is to have a high standard for one’s vision, work, and art.

There are no set themes or objective selection criteria. Only a subjective appreciation will guide the choice of residents.

The Four à pain will host writers and artists free of charge for stays of varying lengths, flexibly programmed according to the needs of each successful candidate. Depending on the length of each residency, a maximum of ten to twelve artists and writers may be hosted each year, for a total period of ten months of residency for each artistic field. To the extent possible, artists working in the same field will not be in residency simultaneously. Dialogue between the two artists present and between fields of artistic practice will therefore be encouraged.

There are no specific requirements or exhibitions at the end of the residency. However, to preserve a trace of their stay, residents will be invited to make a contribution, in the form they desire, that will enrich the blog of the Four à pain.

A residency agreement will be signed between each candidate and Le Four à pain.

One uniquely precious factor for candidates is the flexibility of the duration of the residency, which will adapted to each project. There is no minimum length of stay and residencies may last up several weeks, and be organized in one or several stays. The grant will vary according to the length of residency of each recipient.

Accommodation is provided free of charge, and basic cooking items are supplied. Food is the responsibility of the resident, though produce from the vegetable garden will be made available to residents free of charge. Le Four à Pain will also cover each resident’s travel expenses, and one shared car and several electric bicycles are available on site for local use.

The village of Caussignac consists of 16 houses and one hotel-restaurant-grocery, La Grive, located 200 meters from Le Four à pain.
